Today I Loaded My Kindle With…

No recipes books tempted my palate today. Maybe because it’s Saturday and this girl just wants to have fun. I grabbed four novels, a couple of interactive Kindle game books and a how-to book on making duct tape bags. Yes, duct tape bags. I’m not a maker, but I admire them and love to see how they work their crafts.

Fiction

The Changelings (War of the Fae: Book 1) by Elle Casey
Jayne Sparks, a potty-mouthed, rebellious seventeen-year-old and her best friend, shy and bookish Tony Green, have a pretty typical high school existence, until several seemingly unrelated incidents converge, causing a cascade of events that change their lives forever. Jayne and Tony, together with a group of runaway teens, are hijacked and sent into a forest, where nothing and no one are as they seem. Who will emerge triumphant? And what will they be when they do?

SANDMAN by Morgan Hannah MacDonald
A serial killer on the loose, a woman being stalked, and a homicide detective who must find the connection between the two before it’s too late. He collects women. He imprisons them, plays with them, tortures them. Then removes a souvenir. They call him the SANDMAN. Meagan McInnis is being plagued with late night calls, yet when she answers, no one is there. Then one night she makes a grisly discovery in her own backyard. The caller is silent no more. Homicide Detective, J.J. Thomas, realizes Meagan is the key to finding the Sandman. Not only must he protect her, but he must find the connection between her and the killer before it’s too late.

Tangled Tides by Karen Amanda Hooper
Yara Jones doesn’t believe in sea monsters—until she becomes one. When a hurricane hits her island home and she wakes up with fins, Yara finds herself tangled up in an underwater world of mysterious merfolk and secretive selkies. Both sides believe Yara can save them by fulfilling a broken promise and opening the sealed gateway to their realm, but they are battling over how it should be done. The selkies want to take her life. The merfolk want something far more precious.

Pushed Too Far by Ann Voss Peterson
Two years ago a woman was brutally murdered, her body burned until only ash and shattered bone remained. Police Sergeant Valerie Ryker solved that case, putting an undisputed monster Dixon Hess in prison for life, and becoming the first female police chief of her tiny Wisconsin town. Then the original murder victim turns up in a frozen lake, all in one piece and only recently dead, and Val must enter a race against time. In only forty-eight hours, Hess will be set free, and he’s nursing one hell of a grudge. And Val, her town, and everyone she loves are at the top of his list.
