Today I Loaded My Kindle With…
True Blood. No, not the Sookie Stackhouse novels nor the television series, but fans of both will probably appreciate “The Unofficial True Blood Drinking Guide.” If the supernatural shenanigans of Sookie and her pals don’t interest you, or if you need to detox after a Season 5 premier party, I’ve also listed books of Chinese tea and healing herbs.
Any other Captain Jack Harkness fans out there? If you love the TV series, Torchwood, you might be interested to see that I’ve included a guide to Cardiff in the travel section. There are six other guides as well, including one for Tallinn, Estonia, a city I very much want (and plan) to visit.
I grabbed a couple of genre novels, suspense of the crazy cult variety and what looks like a blend of scifi and fantasy with YA angst thrown in for flavor. I also noticed that the “Star Wars: Lost Tribe of the Sith” series of novellas are once again free, so I’ve listed them here.

When what was presumed to be cult suicide turns out to be anything but, Erin returns to her hometown to find the truth behind the tragedy. Now, isolated on the Maine coast with an old flame and a handsome newcomer with his own dark past, Erin will risk everything to uncover the secrets of Payson Isle – secrets someone will kill to keep buried.
Here (On the Otherside) by Denise Grover Swank
Sixteen year old Julia Phillips buries herself in guilt after killing her best friend Monica in a car accident. Julia awoke in the hospital with a broken leg, a new talent for drawing and false memories of the accident, in which she dies and Monica lives. The doctors attribute this to her head injury, but no one can explain how a bracelet engraved with her name ended up at the scene of the accident. A bracelet no one has ever seen before. Classmate Evan Whittaker paid Julia no attention before the accident, let alone after. Now suddenly he’s volunteering to tutor her and offering to drive her home. She can’t ignore that his new obsession started after his two-day disappearance last week and that he wears a pendant she’s been drawing for months. When the police show up one night looking for Evan, he begs Julia to run with him, convincing her that Monica is still alive. Julia agrees to go, never guessing where he’s really from.

The Unofficial True Blood Drinking Guide by Chris-Rachael Oseland
The Unauthorized True Blood Drinking Guide exists to answer the immortal question of WWED – What Would Erik Drink? For that matter, what about Russell Edgington and Talbot? Sweet Eddie Fournier or crazy Franklin Mott? Bill, Lorena, or Pam? These days, the obvious answer is blood. However, back when they were merely mortal humans, your favorite vampires were already heavy drinkers – of booze. Before modern water purification techniques came along, their poor, weak human bodies couldn’t have survived otherwise. The Unofficial True Blood Drinking Guide takes you on a heady tour of the drinking culture that would have influenced each vampire’s attitudes towards the dark, rich, intoxicating beverages that make life worth living.
